Last summer, I traveled to Nepal to follow up on my nonprofit Wind Horse Power and to film a documentary about the cultural changes going on in rural parts of Nepal. These are the youngest members of one of two nunneries in the area.

About Me
My name is Helena Long. I attended Denver School of the Arts in Colorado for high school where I majored in Cinematic Arts. I atteneted Whittier College for a year where I studied Flim and Anthropology. This past September I moved to Los Angeles and am now focusing on film, anthropology, and humanities at Santa Monica College.
My whole life, I've loved stories. I tore through books, went to ballets, stared at paintings in the museum. All around me, art was there, stories were there, and they were shown to me quietly, gently, and gracefully but with powerful resonance. The concept was beyond my grasp, but I wanted to create too. I wanted to be an artist.
Film appeared to me by chance. My father, a writer, climber, and an Indian Jones fanatic, took me to a panel of filmmakers who recreated shot-by-shot the first Indiana Jones film when they were kids. It was a new world. Before I knew it, I was signed up for film camp and off I went into a strange yet beautiful abyss.
As I grow and learn more about film and the world, I'm becoming more aware of the impact and influence art has in communities. Art gives people a voice to tell their stories, and film will be mine.
